Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part Two is now available on Digital and Blu-ray, but for some fans, the movie may prove somewhat disappointing.
While Part One laid the groundwork for the latest adaptation of Marv Wolfman and George Pérez's classic story, the sequel largely focuses on Psycho Pirate's origin story and Supergirl's relationship with her adoptive father, The Monitor.
There are some fun cameos, including DC Showcase: Kamandi: The Last Boy on Earth!'s title character, but the movie's portrayal of the Bat-Family is sure to raise eyebrows.
Jensen Ackles' Caped Crusader isn't interested in sidekicks and even tells an alternate-reality Dick Grayson that he's glad he dumped his Earth-3 doppelganger off at the orphanage after the Flying Graysons were killed.
He does ultimately fight alongside (and against) Damian Wayne, Huntress, Batgirl, Duke Thomas, and Batman Beyond, but the main source of disappointment will probably be the fact the latter never speaks.
We may have missed the odd line on a first viewing as Will Friedle is credited as reprising the role, but as best we can tell, he only grunts his way through a handful of fight scenes. This may be down to budget or rights issues, but it's a shame to see Batman Beyond used so sparingly given the excitement that followed his appearance in Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part Two's trailers.
The movie ends with a brainwashed Supergirl killing The Monitor and the remaining Multiversal superheroes assembling to battle the Anti-Monitor.
There's no sign of Kevin Conroy's Batman or Mark Hamill's Joker in this second chapter, so time will tell whether the rumours of them sharing the screen one final time in Part Three are correct.
An endless army of Shadow Demons bent on the destruction of all reality swarms over our world and all parallel Earths! The only thing opposing them is the mightiest team of metahumans ever assembled. But not even the combined power of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and all their fellow superheroes can slow down the onslaught of this invincible horde. What mysterious force is driving them? And how do the long-buried secrets of the Monitor and Supergirl threaten to crush our last defense?
Justice League Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part Two is now available to purchase digitally from Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Google Play, Vudu and more. You'll also find it on 4K Ultra HD in limited edition SteelBook packaging and Blu-Ray.
