Harry Styles Has Reportedly "Respectfully Declined" The Role Of Prince Eric In THE LITTLE MERMAID

Multiple reports were posted earlier today which supposed that Harry Styles had officially landed the role of Prince Eric in Disney's upcoming, live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. This was on the back of tweets from two seemingly reputable sources: AMC Theatres and Regal Cinemas.

Before being promptly deleted, the tweets appeared to be announcements that Styles had been officially cast in the role. This was evidently not the case and Disney are yet to make any official declarations about the role of Prince Eric.

Following all of that, The Wrap is now not only reporting that Styles hasn't been cast as Prince Eric but that he has respectfully declined to play the character in the upcoming, live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. However, they made mention that he's a fan of the project. It's worth noting that this report does hold about as much credence as those claiming that he has landed the role, though.

Thus far, the cast of The Little Mermaid consists of Halle Bailey (as the titular princess), Jacob Tremblay (as Flounder), and Awkwafina (as Scuttle). Melissa McCarthy and Javier Bardem are reportedly in talks to play Ursula and King Triton respectively. Rob Marshall will direct.
