New Found Glory, the godfathers of pop-punk, have released a new cover of the hit song “
Let It Go” from Disney’s animated blockbuster
Frozen. The song was covered as part of band’s upcoming album,
From The Screen To Your Stereo 3, in which they cover popular movie tracks.
The cover takes the original track, originally sung by Idina Menzel in the film, and reimagines it with fast-paced riffs and an energy that only the sweet sounds of electric power chords can achieve.
As the band has done with its previously released cover songs, New Found Glory created a music video for their cover of
Let It Go. In it, the various band members are dressed as some of the movie’s main characters as they celebrate and rock in an old-school roller rink.
Featured in the 2013 animated film
Frozen,
Let It Go became a smash hit. It reached the top five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and won both the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2014 and the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media in 2015.
Beyond the awards,
Let It Go became a cultural phenomenon, gripping many of the world’s children like never before. Of course, anyone with a child has probably grown to loathe it due to it likely being blasted on repeat in their home.
The cover comes just before Disney unleashes the highly anticipated sequel,
Frozen 2, later this year. A teaser trailer for
Frozen 2 was r
ecently released, teasing a darker, more mature adventure; although, it’s likely to once again enthrall millions of new and old fans with its original music as well.
From the Academy Award®-winning team—directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, and producer Peter Del Vecho—and featuring the voices of Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad, and the music of Oscar®-winning songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Frozen 2” opens in U.S. theaters on Nov. 22, 2019.
Frozen 2 lands in theaters on November 22, 2019.
