Earlier this year, Walt Disney Animation Studios released the first trailer for
Frozen 2, teasing a darker, more mature tone to the highly anticipated sequel.
Disney has been keeping story details for
Frozen 2 under wraps, but at the company's recent Disney+ event, investors were treated to another sneak peek at the film. That footage has yet to make its way online, but it sounds like what was shown serves as a further indication of the sequel's darker tone.
It's unclear exactly how much was shown, but CNET makes note of two moments in particular.
...a glimpse of Anna kneeling before Olaf, who says in a worried voice, "I don't think Elsa's OK."
We also hear a voice-over of a troll saying, "You must find the truth."
Without context for the clip, we don't know what to make of Olaf's comment. Is Elsa heading down a dark path? Or is she stranded on an island and needs saving? If you recall, the teaser showed her attempting to create an icy path to break through some pretty large waves keeping her trapped on a rocky, deserted island.
We've also heard rumors that the plot of the sequel will
involve Anna and Elsa searching for their shipwrecked parents. Perhaps in search of their parents, the two sisters also got caught up in a dangerous storm, resulting in Elsa being stranded?
With so many questions surrounding
Frozen 2, here's hoping we get a proper trailer for the sequel soon. On a related note, it was also revealed during the event, that
a Frozen 2 making-of documentary will be featured on Disney+.
Frozen 2 is slated to hit theaters on November 22, 2019.
