FilmSharks and Golem Circle are currently developing a new CG-animated film Dalia Y El Libro Rojo 3D, also known as Dalia and the Red Book, according to an exclusive first dropped by Deadline.
Dalia and the Red Book makes history as one of the first Spanish-language animated feature-length films to include CGI characters, stop motion, and 2D animation together in one project. The story follows a 12-year-old girl named Dalia, the daughter of a celebrated author who has recently passed away. Dalia sets out to finish her father’s latest work, meeting her father’s characters along the way.
While the project will not be released until 2020, FilmSharks plans to release some footage from the film early to give fans a first look at the animation.
FilmSharks CEO Guido Rudd had this to say about the upcoming project:
“Dalia is budgeted at less than $5M but has the look and feel of much bigger movie. It’s the NeverEnding Story meets ParaNorman or The Corpse Bride.”
Dalia and the Red Book is produced by the Argentinian company FilmSharks and Vista Sur, Peru’s Golem Circle, and Zentropa Spain’s animation arm Doce.
