While some fans who signed up for Disney+ had no outrageous expectaions of the fledgling streaming service, others are outright demanding in regards to what does and doesn't stay on the platform.
As January 2020 rolled in the New Year kicked off and with many people at home for the holiday, there was plenty of streaming happening. It didn't take long to notice that there were some omissions to the lineup that the streaming service had offered upon its inital release. Titles such as
Home Alone, Home Alone 2, Dr. Dolittle, Pirates of the Caribbean: on Stranger Tides, The Sandlot, and more have suddenly vanished as if they were snapped away by Thanos in the decimation.
A lot of the confusion seems to be based on the difference between general movies which can come and go from Disney+ as often as their rights change hands and their contracts dictate so, and the films in Disney's Signature Collection that will remain centerpieces of the streaming service going forward no matter what. For reference, those films include the likes of
The Lion King, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, Pinnochio, The Jungle Book, The Little Mermaid, and
Bambi.
There are also reports that more films set to leave, such as
Black Panther in 2026 when it will revert back to Netflix. Previously
Shaggy Dog and
Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties were both also amongst the removed titles without an announcement as to why, but don't worry, for all the movies that have been removed, the service has been adding plenty in their places.
