Bob Iger recently confirmed that the title of Disney's upcoming streaming service will be "Disney+" much in the vein of ESPN+ and the like. Iger also revealed that the service will drop later this year, though didn't state an official price.
Disney also tweeted out the news alongside its logo - which evokes the imagery of the star flying over the Disney castle, which comes before most Disney films. Check it out below:
2019 will see the debut of Toy Story 4, Frozen 2, and live-action remakes of animated classics like: The Lion King, Dumbo, and Aladdin. Those titles will be releasing in theatres and then be available on Disney Play. The streaming service will also house exclusive titles - such as: Lady and the Tramp, which stars Tessa Thompson and Justin Theroux, and director Jon Favreau's live-action Star Wars series.
Some of Disney’s biggest IPs will be making a resurgence in the form of a TV series related to Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. as well as High School Musical - and no doubt many more. Behemoth brands like Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars will have all of their content featured on the service as well as many IPs which Disney recently acquired from 20th Century Fox.
What do you think of the name? Are you looking forward to Disney's streaming service?
