Disney's live-action remake of Lady and the Tramp, which will be directed by The LEGO Ninjago Movie's Charlie Bean, is reportedly looking to cast people of colour - particularly for the tituar roles.
According to a recent report by That Hashtag Show, Disney is looking to cast people of color in the upcoming live-action remake, most notably as Lady and Tramp - despite that the actors obviously will not appear physically in the film. We will most likely not have to wait long to see who's cast in each role as voiceover work is expected to begin later this month.
The original animated film, which released in 1955, followed a pampered cocker spaniel named Lady whose comfortable life slips away once her owners have a baby. When, after some tense circumstances, Lady finds herself on the loose and out on the street, she is befriended and protected by the tough stray mutt named Tramp. A romance begins to blossom between the two dogs, but their many differences, along with more drama at Lady's household, threaten to keep them apart.
Another recent report by Omega Underground states that the movie will begin shooting in Atlanta, Georgia in three months time.
Lady and the Tramp will be an exclusive release on Disney's new streaming service, along with several other projects such as a similar live-action remake of The Sword in the Stone.
