Right from when the first trailer for Detective Pikachu was released online, fans fell in love with the realstic redesigns of many beloved Pokémon creatures. One of the people we have to thank fo the incredible, live-action designs is Stephen Molyneaux.

Molyneaux was one of the artists who produced concept art for the film. This would allow every filmmaker involved, from the actors to the animators, a good idea of what they were making. The concept artist recently shared a plethora of his work for the film with Kotaku.

These stunning pieces show off some incredible, realistic designs of Pokémon. Some of the Pokémon on show in the artwork didn't actually feature in the film, so this is our first look at how they would look in the real world. However, the artwork also allows us to see early versions of many Pokémon which did make the cut - like Detective Pikachu himself.
