One of, if not
Detective Pikachu's greatest achievement is bringing to Pokemon franchise into the realm of live-action. One of the many artists who worked on the film recently took to Twitter (via
Gamefragger) to share some of his early and menacing designs for Charizard.
RJ Palmer (
@arvalis) shared a total of four pieces of concept art which feature different iterations of Charizard. Some of the below designs are even more faithful to the source material than the one we got in the final product. Some of them, however, are a far cry from the fierce but cute dragon that Pokemon fans know and love.
"Charizard was the very first thing I worked on and also one of the last. Charizard has always been one of my favorite designs. It was super cool to see what the finished effects for Charizard looked like. His animations were so good!" Palmer made note that the first piece attached to the tweet is the most recent one he created.
