Actor Karan Soni, who previously played Dopinder in Deapool and Deadpool 2 will voice Pavitr Prabhakar, better known as Spider-Man India in Sony's Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Soni also previously voiced characters in Trolls World Tour and Strange World, so the Indian actor is no stranger to voice work.
Born in New Delhi, Soni came to the U.S. for college before being discovered by Hollywood and debuting in a scene-stealing role in 2012's Safety Not Guaranteed.
Soni's casting was first reported by One Take News and later confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.
Soni will join a talented cast that includes Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy, Jake Johnson as Peter B. Parker, Oscar Isaac as Miguel O'Hara, Issa Rae as Jessica Drew, Daniel Kaluuya as Hobart "Hobie" Brown and Jason Schwartzman as the villainous Jonathan Ohnn aka the Spot.
In additon to the Spidey variants mentioned above, Scarlet Spider, Spider-Byte, Japanese Spider-Man, Insomniac Games' Spider-Man, Spider-Man Unlimited Spider-Man, the Superior Spider-Man, Old-Man Peter Parker and more alternate versions of Peter Parker are slated to appear in some form or fashion.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will hit North American theaters on June 2, 2023. It will compete against Fast X, (May 19), The Little Mermaid (May 26), Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (June 9) and The Flash (June 16) at the box office.
