Cruella is an upcoming, live-action prequel to the Disney classic
101 Dalmatians that's to be directed by Craig Gillespie (
I, Tonya). Prior to today, the cast consisted of Emma Stone (
La La Land), Emma Thompson (
Sense and Sensibility), Paul Walter Hauser (
I, Tonya), and Joel Fry (
Yesterday). Now there's a new addition to the roster.
Emily Beecham is best known for her roles in
Daphne and
Into the Badlands. Earlier this year, Beecham was award the title of Best Actress at Cannes for her role in
Little Joe. According to a recent report by
Deadline, Beecham is now a part of the
Cruella film. We're yet to be made privy to details on her role in the film.
We got our first look at Cruella during Disney's recent D23 expo. Emma Stone can rocking a punky, new look for the iconic villain. It's said that the film will take place in the 1970s and reveal to us how Cruella de Vil lived up to her name and became cruel in the first place.
Cruella is set to arrive in theatres on May 28th, 2021.
