Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) was essentially revealed earlier today with the first official trailer, an awesome, new title, and plentiful more details from the writers, producers, and directors of the film.
Significantly, earlier today we found out that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) is only the first part of a two-film whole — more on that here. We speculated that the second part would be released only a year after the first half and the film's producers have confirmed that speculation.
Chris Miller and Phil Lord, the renowned pair responsible for the 21 Jump Street film duology, The LEGO Movie, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, and the first Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse film, serve as writer and producers of the sequel.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lord and Miller confirmed that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part Two) will release at some point in 2023. With the first part set to debut on October 7th, 2022, that's only a year later.
"Miles' story is an epic," the pair declared. "We wrote what we thought the story needed to be, and to our surprise we realized it was two movies instead of one. We're working on them both as we speak. Part Two will be out sometime in 2023. We will sleep again in 2024."
Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar®-winning Spider-Verse saga, an epic adventure that will transport Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man across the Multiverse to join forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-People to face off with a villain more powerful than anything they have ever encountered.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) is coming exclusively to movie theaters on October 7, 2022.
