Warner Bros.' upcoming Barbie movie went through several incarnations (one of which was going to star Amy Schumer) before star and producer Margot Robbie boarded the project, and The Suicide Squad actress initially had a very different idea for who should play the lead.
During an interview with Vogue, Robbie revealed that she actually reached out to Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot for the role, but she was unavailable.
“Gal Gadot is Barbie energy. Because Gal Gadot is so impossibly beautiful, but you don’t hate her for being that beautiful, because she’s so genuinely sincere, and she’s so enthusiastically kind, that it’s almost dorky. It’s like right before being a dork.”
Gadot as Barbie certainly could have been interesting, but after seeing the trailer, it's difficult to imagine anyone being a better fit than Robbie.
