Earlier today, there were reports that Melissa McCarthy (Ghostbusters, Spy) is amid talks to play the villainous Ursula in Disney's live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. Following those, even more casting rumours have begun doing the rounds. This time the roles in question are the friendly characters of Flounder and Scuttle (via Comicbook.com).

It's said that Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians, Jumanji: The Next Level, Ocean's 8) is up for the latter role while Jacob Tremblay (Room, Wonder) is rumoured to be cast as Flounder. The two characters are Ariel's friends and thus are pretty major roles.

As mentioned above, McCarthy is apparently up for the role of Ursula. There were, however, earlier reports which believed Lady Gaga to be up for the role. Additionally, there were countless reports that Zendaya was in talks to play the titular role. However, the actress shot these down - but did admit that she would be open to playing the role.

Disney's live-action remake of The Little Mermaid doesn't currently have a set release date.
