It has been four months since Aladdin made its debut in theatres. In that time, the live-action remake of the animated classic managed to earn more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office. For all intents and purposes, it was a huge success — so much so that Disney are reportedly already planning a sequel.

Without a shadow of a doubt, one of the aspects of Aladdin that made the film thrive was its cast of Will Smith, Mena Masoud, and Naomi Scott. The former two of those played the Genie and Aladdin respectively. In a new behind-the-scenes video, we can see the pair at work.

The video comes courtesy of DisneyMusicVEVO and is in promotion of the Aladdin home release — which features even more behind-the-scenes content. We can see both Smith and Masoud filming the "Friend Like Me" musical number. Despite seeming to be computer-generated in the film, Smith was actually on-set alongside Masoud and garbed in a motion-capture suit.

Below you can check out the behind-the-scenes video as well as an official clip of the finished scene:

A thrilling and vibrant live-action adaptation of Disney’s animated classic, “Aladdin” is the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin, the courageous and self-determined Princess Jasmine and the Genie who may be the key to their future. Directed by Guy Ritchie, who brings his singular flair for fast-paced, visceral action to the fictitious port city of Agrabah, “Aladdin” is written by John August and Ritchie based on Disney’s “Aladdin.” The film stars Will Smith as the Genie; Mena Massoud as Aladdin; Naomi Scott as Jasmine; Marwan Kenzari as Jafar; Navid Negahban as the Sultan; Nasim Pedrad as Dalia and Billy Magnussen as Prince Anders.
