Abominable is the newest animated movie from DreamWorks. It stars Chloe Bennet (Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as teenage girl named Yi. Along with her friends Jin and Peng, Yi embarks on a mission to reunite a lost yeti, which she names Everest, with its family atop the highest point on Earth. On the way, they have to remain one step ahead of some foes who intend to capture Everest.

The forthcoming animated film is directed by Jill Culton (Open Season) and arrives in theatres today. Ahead of its release, experts speculated that Abominable is going to make $17-$20 million at the domestic box office this weekend (via The Hollywood Reporter). Abominable will only be debuting in the US today but will arrive in China on Tuesday and elsewhere midway through October.

The family-friendly film is up against the Downton Abbey movie which arrived in theatres last weekend and made $31 million at the box office. However, Universal wins regardless of who comes out on top because they're responsible for releasing both Abominable and Downton Abbey.

When teenage Yi (Chloe Bennet, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) encounters a young Yeti on the roof of her apartment building in Shanghai, she and her mischievous friends, Jin (Tenzing Norgay Trainor) and Peng (Albert Tsai), name him “Everest” and embark on an epic quest to reunite the magical creature with his family at the highest point on Earth.

Abominable is arrives in theatres on September 27th, 2019.
