Zootopia, the Walt Disney Animation Studios movie, was released all the way back in 2016. In 2020, Disney announced that a spinoff series was in the works for their, at the time, new streaming service, Disney+.
The animated series is set within the same world as Zootopia, but will seemingly will not feature any of the main players from the animated movie. Instead, Zootopia+ will tell the tales of multiple new characters who reside in the colorful metropolis, as well as see the return of some minor characters from the 2016 movie such as Flash the Sloth, Fru, and Gazzel's backup dancers.
Today, at D23, the exact date that Zootopia+ will be coming to Disney+ was announced, that being November 9th, 2022 (via Collider). Additionally, the titles of the series' six episodes were revealed, to give fans an idea of what to expect in the lead-up to the show itself.
The episode titles are as follows:
- "The Real Rodents of Rodentia"
- "Duke the Musical"
- "Hopp on Board"
- "The Godfather of the Bride"
- "So You Think You Can Prance"
- "Dinner Rush"
There's been plenty of other animated movie news from D23 these past days, such as the announcement of Inside Out 2 from Pixar (more on that here), and there will surely be much more, so be sure to stay tuned to Toonado.
