Howard the Duck is set to return in Marvel's upcoming What If? Disney+ series after originally debuting back in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy and a quick cameo in Avengers: Endgame.
Seth Green, who is voicing the character in the new series, recently sat down with The Hollywood Reporter to discuss the role, as well as his possible MCU future. While reflecting on being cast to play the fan-favourite duck who first appeared in comics in the 70s and later had his own solo film in the 80s Green had this to share with THR - "I got a call from James Gunn, who I worked with on Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed. He said, 'I’ve already shot the colored animation for the Howard cameo but the lip assignment is pretty loose. Do you want to come in and loop these two lines for this tag on Guardians of the Galaxy?' And I said, 'Yeah.'"
"He made the second Guardians and was like, 'I threw Howard into this seedy place,' told me the line was, 'You’re out of luck, until you’ve gone duck,' and I said, 'OK, let’s try that.'"
He didn't reveal much regarding Howard the Duck's appearance in What If?, but he did share "[it's] really cool because it resulted in a scene between T’Challa and Howard." What If? will mark the final MCU appearance of the late Chadwick Boseman.
As far as Howard's MCU future? Green shared "I think we can all rest assured that Marvel has good plans for all their characters that are going to make sense."
