2021 has been a wonderful year for Marvel Studios. With so many projects having been delayed due to the pandemic, the upside for fans meant that there has been a steady stream of new content throughout the year.
Disney+ has premiered three series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Multiverse thus far, and each of them has received an overwhelmingly positive response. Each WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki received a Rotten Tomatoes score in the 90s, marking them all "Certified Fresh", a coveted title on the review site.
Now it seems that the fourth series, Marvel's What If...?, which premieres tomorrow (tonight if you're die-hard), is also right up with the rest. Critics who have seen the first three episodes of Marvel Studios' first animated series have given it a score of 88 percent, certifying it nearly as fresh as the live-action predecessors.
This bodes very well for the new series, as the project is an ambitious one, to say the least. Marvel Studios has done everything in their power to market their first animated project, going so far as to even deem it as canon in the overall multiverse and tease larger ramifications.
Add to that the fact that What If...? has already been greenlit for another 9-episode season in 2022 even before audiences have been exposed to the first, and general audiences might just see past their animation stigma and check this one out after all.
