THE LITTLE MERMAID: Disney Wraps Production For The Live-Action Film Alongside A Look At The Titular Princess

Disney keeps making live-action remakes of their classic fairytales and The Little Mermaid is up next. After years in production, the actress who plays Ariel has released an image confirming they've wrapped.

Over the past decade, Disney has really shifted into overdrive when adapting their popular classic animated fairytale stories into modern live-action tales. The Lion King, Aladdin, Mulan, The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, Dumbo, Lady and the Tramp, Alice in Wonderland, and countless more have already received the treatment, with many more on their way to follow their footsteps.

These examples don't even include the live-action features which focus on the antagonists from these movies, such as Maleficent and Cruella taking the place of Sleeping Beauty and 101 Dalmations. Both films were so successful that they received orders for sequels, leaving fans to wonder which villain could receive the spotlight next.

Regardless of how many stories are currently in production, one in particular has officially wrapped, and that's The Little Mermaid. The Halle Bailey-starring vehicle has been in the works for several years, but the lead actress has now taken to Twitter to share that they have finally finished, alongside a photo of her as a mermaid, the first we've seen thus far.

"And just like that..., that's a wrap. After auditioning for this film when I was 18, about to turn 19, to now finishing filming in a pandemic when I turned 21... We have finally made it... I'm so grateful to experience this film in all its glory."

Obviously, Bailey is excited about this feature, and with a mix of the original songs with new music from Lin-Manuel Miranda, who wouldn't be? You can see the full image alongside her emotional sentiments in her full Twitter post below.

What do you guys think of this image? Are you excited to immerse yourself in the live-action adventures of Ariel and her undersea companions? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual spot!

With an original release set for July 9th, 2021, we're unsure when The Little Mermaid will be hitting theaters and/or Disney+.
