Disney+ released a stunning new Raya and the Last Dragon Super Bowl TV spot yesterday which you can see below. The film will simultaneously hit theaters and Disney+ on March 5. However, Disney+ subscribers will have to fork over an additional $29.99 for Disney Premier Access.
Where past trailers have focused on the action in the story, the TV spot provides a glimpse at the film's humor- particularly between Raya (Kelly Marie Tran) and Sisu the dragon (Awkwafina). The trailer also provides a brief glimps at Sisu's human form.
Raya and the Last Dragon was originally set to be released in theaters on November 25, 2020 but due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the film was delayed to March. The film will be the second feature released via Disney Premiere Access following Mulan. Pixar's Soul was released for free on Christmas Day.
That film was released in theaters and on the streaming platform (for an additional $29.99) in September before becoming free to view in December. If a similar release window is applied to Raya, Disney+ subscribers should expect the film to be free to view some time around June.
Raya and the Last Dragon takes us on an exciting, epic journey to the fantasy world of Kumandra, where humans and dragons lived together long ago in harmony. But when an evil force threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity. Now, 500 years later, that same evil has returned and it’s up to a lone warrior, Raya, to track down the legendary last dragon to restore the fractured land and its divided people. However, along her journey, she’ll learn that it’ll take more than a dragon to save the world—it’s going to take trust and teamwork as well.
