Later this year, Disney+ will debut Star Wars: Visions, an animated anthology series that celebrates the sci fi franchise through the lens of the world's best anime creators and storytellers. But fans will be able to get a sneak peek of the upcoming series at Anime Expo next month.
Lucasfilm confirmed the Star Wars: Visions - Sneak Preview virtual panel will be held on July 3 at 3:00 p.m. PST. The 30-minute panel will be hosted by Chastity Vicencio and will feature Lucasfilm executive producers Jacqui Lopez, James Waugh, and Josh Rimes, Qubic Pictures’ and co-executive producer Justin Leach, and producer Kanako Shirasaki. The panel itself will offer an inside look at Star Wars: Visions before it debuts on Disney+ later this year, so presumably we'll get to see some footage or a trailer.
The initial run of Star Wars: Visions will be comprised of 10 anime-inspired original short films created by various Japanese animation studios. One of the episodes of the series also apparently inspired the upcoming novel Ronin, written by Emma Mieko Candon. Ronin is set to be published on October 12, 2021, so it's possible Star Wars: Visions will premiere around that time as well.
Anime Expo Lite is set to take place between Saturday, July 3 and Sunday, July 4, 2021. This is the digital version of Anime Expo, the largest celebration of Japanese pop culture in North America.
