Star Wars, as a franchise, is no stranger to success. However, some of its best feats in storytelling can be found in its animation. From the heartwrenching series finale of Clone Wars to the mind-boggling conclusion of Rebels, animation can always guarantee emotional stories.
The most recent animated series, which premiered in 2018 and ran for two seasons, is Polygon Picture's Star Wars: Resistance. Taking place before episode 7 and the before episode 8, the series follows a group of young pilots on their journey to protect the galaxy from the menace of the First Order.
Interacting with characters like Poe Dameron, Captain Phasma, and General Leia Organa helped to make the series feel closer to the story than ever before; its stories even had it nominated for the Outstanding Children's Program Emmy, last year. Now, for this year's Primetime Emmy Awards, this fall, the series was nominated again for the same category!
With competition such as Jim Henson's The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance and We Are the Dream: The Kids of the Oakland MLK Oratorical Fest, will Star Wars pull out a win? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
The series follows the adventures of Kazuda "Kaz" Xiono (voiced by Christopher Sean), a newly minted Resistance pilot tasked to spy on the growing threat of the First Order. As part of his undercover mission, he joins "Team Fireball," a racing team on the station Colossus.
Star Wars: Resistance is streaming now on Disney+!
