Disney Lorcana: Rise of the Floodborn has arrived at local game stores today, but there are still a few weeks to go until they start selling at big box stores such as Target, Walmart and Best Buy. With LGS likely selling out quickly during this pre-release period, many fans are probably hoping to have better luck with the wider release on December 1st.
In anticipation of next month's official launch, game creator Ravensburger has announced that they will begin opening up pre-orders from their online store on Monday, November 20th.
Pre-orders will begin on the Ravensburger website at 10:30 a.m. EST; however, to ensure a smooth shopping experience, they are implementing a queue system. The queue will open at 9:00 a.m. EST, granting anyone who visits the site before 10:30 a.m. a random spot in the virtual line.
This means you can join up at any time before 10:30 a.m. EST and have the same chance of getting selected as someone who has possibly been waiting since 9:00 a.m. EST. This initial randomized queue will close once pre-order sales begin at 10:30 a.m. and anyone who visits the store after that will be entered into a separate queue after that first one.
Once it is your turn, you'll have 20 minutes to make your purchase. Ravensburger is putting limits on how much you can order, though you should be able to get at least one of each type of Rise of the Floodborn product, barring any supply issues. Here are the pre-order limits that Ravensburger is setting for their online store:
- 2x Disney Lorcana: Rise of Floodborn Starter Deck, Amber and Sapphire ($16.99 each)
- 2x Disney Lorcana: Rise of Floodborn Starter Deck, Amethyst and Steel ($16.99 each)
- 2x Disney Lorcana: Rise of Floodborn Booster Box Display ($143.76 each)
- 1x Disney Lorcana: Rise of Floodborn Illumineer’s Trove ($49.99 each)
- 1x Disney Lorcana: Rise of Floodborn Playmat, The Beast
- 1x Disney Lorcana: Rise of Floodborn Playmat, Winnie the Pooh
- 1x Disney Lorcana: D100 Collector’s Edition ($49.99 each)
Ravensburger won't begin shipping pre-orders until December 1st, so as to not encroach on the wider release at major retailers. There's been no announcement from retailers such as Target, Best Buy, Walmart or Amazon regarding pre-order availability, although there have been occasional random listings that sell out rather quickly.
In addition to the release of Rise of the Floodborn, Ravensburger has also begun sending out restock for reprints of the first set, The First Chapter. There hasn't been a formal announcement regarding this restock, but it seems retailers have been getting random waves in recent weeks. There's the belief that there will be a larger wave arriving on December 1st alongside the Rise of the Floodborn launch.
In the meantime, the only way to obtain Rise of the Floodborn cards right now is likely through your local game store. Unfortunately, many of them are charging well above the recommended MSRP and not selling online, but it varies from store to store.
