Onward debuted in theatres back in March but the animated film's run was cut short by the emergent COVID-19 pandemic. It's the newest animated flick from Disney and Pixar, as such it arrived on the Disney+ streaming service only a month after it's theatrical release in both the United States and Canada — more on that here.
Shortly thereafter, Onward came to Disney+ in Australia. However, those in the United Kingdom and Ireland have had to wait until now to stream the animated film on Disney's streaming service. Finally, after half a year's time. Though Onward should be headlining the main banner on Disney+ right now anyway, here's a direct link to the film's page.
Onward stars Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Far From Home) and Chris Pratt (Avengers: Endgame) as two elvish brothers who embark on an adventure to see their late father one last time. The cast also includes Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Octavia Spencer, Mel Rodriguez, Ali Wong, and Lena Waithe. Dan Scanlon served as both writer and director.
Set in a suburban fantasy world, two teenage elf brothers, Ian and Barley Lightfoot, go on a journey to discover if there is still a little magic left out there in order to spend one last day with their father, who died when they were too young to remember him.
Onward is now streaming on Disney+
