Onward is the latest animated film from Disney Pixar and only arrived in theatres on March 6th (less than one month ago). The movie features the voices of Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Far From Home), Chris Pratt (Avengers: Endgame), Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Octavia Spencer, Mel Rodriguez, Ali Wong, and Lena Waithe. Onward was written and directed by Dan Scanlon.
Shortly after the movie's release, theatres decided to close up shop due to the Coronavirus pandemic and many studios opted to delay their upcoming movies. Thus, Onward's theatrical run was essentially cut short. It will certainly be a wonder to see how Onward ultimately performed at the box office.
Regardless, Disney (@DisneyPlus) has decided that it won't let the pandemic prevent anticipating moviegoers from seeing the fantasy tale. Late last month, it was announced that Onward would be coming to the Disney+ streaming service — a lot sooner than expected.
That time has arrived. As of April 3rd, Onward is now streaming on Disney+ for subscribers in the United States and Canada. Not only does this serve as a great way to get the movie out there and seen but also as an incentive for people to stay indoors and watch a new movie rather than head out and risk catching or spreading the disease.
It's said that Onward will be available to stream on Disney+ for Australian subscribers on April 24th but; there's no word on when Onward will come to the streaming service for subscribers in other countries. Those in the likes of the United Kingdom will simply have to keep their fingers crossed for the time being. We will be sure to let you know when anything is announced.
Set in a suburban fantasy world, two teenage elf brothers, Ian and Barley Lightfoot, go on a journey to discover if there is still a little magic left out there in order to spend one last day with their father, who died when they were too young to remember him.
