Disney might be planning to make a live-action remake out of
The Little Mermaid,
Peter Pan,
Pinocchio, and
Bambi but first they've got to get
Mulan out of the way.
Based on the 1998 animated classic of the same name,
Mulan stars Liu Yifei as the titular character, as well as Donnie Yen as Commander Tung, Jason Scott Lee as Böri Khan, Yoson An as Cheng Honghui, Gong Li as Xianniang and Jet Li as The Emperor — among others. It's set to arrive in theatres on March 27th.
The film follows a fearless, young woman as she masquerades as a man in order to take her ailing father's place as a part of the Imperial Army. Thus far, two official trailers have been released for the live-action remake — one of which you can check out below — and there's another on the way.
It's said that Sunday and the Super Bowl will bring the final official trailer for
Mulan. Ahead of the annual sporting event, Disney has released the TV spot that will air during the commercials online — and you can check that out below (via
ComicBookMovie.com):
When the Emperor of China issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Army to defend the country from Northern invaders, Hua Mulan, the eldest daughter of an honored warrior, steps in to take the place of her ailing father. Masquerading as a man, Hua Jun, she is tested every step of the way and must harness her inner-strength and embrace her true potential. It is an epic journey that will transform her into an honored warrior and earn her the respect of a grateful nation…and a proud father.
