Ahead of its premiere next year, Marvel has announced the voice cast for Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. The highly anticipated animated series, which was greenlit in 2019, is slated to make its debut on Disney Channel in 2022.
For those unfamiliar with the comic books, the series follows the adventures of 13-year-old super-genius Lunella Lafayette and her giant mutated T-Rex, Devil Dinosaur, after it's accidentally brought into present-day New York City via a time vortex. Together, the dynamic duo help protect the city's Lower East Side from danger.
It was announced today that actress and singer Diamond White will star as Lunella Lafayette (aka Moon Girl). Diamond White has quite an extensive resume, that includes voice work for Transformers: Rescue Bots, Sofia the First, and The Lion Guard.
Joining her in the series is Alfre Woodard (Marvel's Luke Cage) as Lunella's grandmother, Mimi; Libe Barer as Lunella's best friend and manager, Casey; Sasheer Zamata as Lunella's mom, Adria; Jermaine Fowler as Lunella's dad, James Mr.; and Gary Anthony Williams as Lunella's grandfather, Pops. Fred Tatasciore (Marvel's Avengers Assemble) will voice the fiercely loyal Devil Dinosaur. Laurence Fishburne (Ant-Man and The Wasp, The Matrix) will voice the recurring role of The Beyonder, "a curious and mischievous trickster."
Fishburne is also executive producing the series alongside Helen Sugland via Cinema Gypsy Productions (ABC's black-ish) and Emmy Award-winner Steve Loter (Disney's Kim Possible). Emmy Award-winner Rodney Clouden (Futurama) is supervising producer while Jeffrey M. Howard (Planes) and Emmy Award-winner Kate Kondell (The Pirate Fairy) are co-producers and story editors.
With this much talent on board, it's hard not to be excited for the potential of this animated adaptation of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. The series will premiere on Disney Channel in 2022, and will likely come to Disney+ at some point afterward.
