A bunch of new information about Disney's live-action remake of
Peter Pan was revealed just last week —
check out that report here. David Lowery (
Pete's Dragon) is on-board to direct
Peter Pan & Wendy alongside Toby Halbrooks (
Pete's Dragon co-writer) — who penned to most recent draft of the film's script.
It's said that production will kick off on April 17th in Canada and is expected to wrap in August. Jim Whitaker (
A Wrinkle In Time) and Joe Roth (
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil) produce. The character of Tiger Lily will reportedly play a more significant role in the remake — than she did in the original.
Casting is currently underway. On that note; according to a new report by
The Illuminerdi (via
ComicBookMovie.com), Disney are eyeing Margot Robbie for the role of Tinker Bell. In fact, it's said that the actress has been outright offered the role.
Robbie is best known for playing Harley Quinn in the DC Extended Universe (most recently in
Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of Harley Quinn) as well as starring in such films as
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,
Bombshell,
The Wolf of Wall Street, and
I, Tonya.
The site also obtained this description of the iconic fairy:
"Peter’s partner-in-crime and voice of reason with the voice of a million tiny bells, Tink helps the Darlings avoid danger during their Neverland adventure. When Peter, the Darlings, and/or the Lost Boys are in trouble, she uses her magical powers to save the day."
Should this casting come to fruition, it would be pretty fortuitous as Robbie recently made it known that she's interested in getting her hands on a Disney property. Perhaps Robbie's casting could mean that Tinker Bell will eventually get her own live-action movie.
