You get a live-action remake! And you get a live-action remake! And you get a live-action remake! Disney is seemingly planning to adapt every one of their animated films into live-action one way or the other. There have already been countless — including
Cinderella,
The Jungle Book,
Beauty and the Beast,
Aladdin,
Dumbo,
The Lion King,
Lady and the Tramp, and somehow even more.
That's without mentioning those that they've got in the pipeline.
Mulan arrives in theatres on March 27th.
Cruella, starring Emma Stone as the titular character, is in the works for release next year. There's also
The Little Mermaid,
Peter Pan,
Pinocchio,
Bambi,
Lilo and Stitch, and countless others. You get the point. It seems it's time to add yet another to the already expansive list.
The DisInsider is reporting that Disney are developing a live-action remake of
Rapunzel. That isn't quite
Tangled as the report mentions that it's unknown whether the film will have anything to do with the 2010 animated film. The most notable bit of info that the report brings to the table is that Ashleigh Powell (
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms) is apparently on-board to write the script.
Michael De Luca Productions and Burr! Productions (
Christopher Robin,
Cruella) both produce. Studio executives Zoe Kent (
Lilo & Stitch) and Jessice Virtue (
Mulan) are involved. Lucy Kitada will reportedly oversee the production but the search for an actual director has only just commenced.
