Last year, Warner Bros. Animation
announced its "most ambitious Looney Tunes content initiative to date" - a series of new short form cartoons starring the iconic Looney Tunes characters. We'll get our first look at this new series when it debuts at Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June.
Some of the new shorts will be shown prior to the festival's opening night film,
Playmobil: The Movie, on Monday, June 10.
The "first season" of these new "cartoonist-driven"
Looney Tunes Cartoons will feature over 1,000 minutes of animation with each short running between one to six minutes in length. While each cartoonist will allow their "own personality and style to come through" in the short, the
Looney Tunes Cartoons will, at their core, still feature "simple, gag-driven and visually vibrant stories" starring Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, and the rest of the beloved cast of characters.
Warner Bros. hopes to get these new
Looney Tunes Cartoons in front of as many eyeballs as possible, distributing the shorts across digital, mobile, and broadcast platforms.
Additional
Looney Tunes Cartoons and a behind-the-scenes look at the production of the new series will be shown during a panel to be held on Wednesday, June 12. Participants include executive producer Peter Browngardt, supervising producer Alex Kirwan, WB Animation series VP Audrey Diehl, and Warner Bros. Animation president Sam Register.
