SpongeBob SquarePants may live in a pineapple under the sea, but Nickelodeon has brought Bikini Bottom to San Diego Comic-Con. With the show floor of the convention opening up today, Nickelodeon Animation has invited fans who are stuck at home to tour the show floor booth of
SpongeBob SquarePants.
The massive 1,800-square foot booth features a giant recreation of The Krusty Krab, where fans can participate in an interactive game and compete head-to-head toc omplete food orders in a race against the clock. There's also the 22-foot tall Chum Bucket towering over the retail area.. There's a photo opportunity with a replica of Mrs. Puff's Boating School, and there will be costumed character appearances and autograph signing opportunities throughout the week.
Nickelodeon has a jam-packed week planned for
SpongeBob's 20th anniversary, and one of the tweets highlights the busy schedule. The
“SpongeBob’s Big Birthday Blowout!” panel takes place today and will dive into the making of the brand-new special with co-executive producers Vincent Waller and Marc Ceccarelli. Voice actors Tom Kenny (SpongeBob), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy), Mr. Lawrence (Plankton) and Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs) will also discuss what it was like to bring these iconic characters to life for the first time in the live action-animation hybrid special.
San Diego Comic-Con runs from July 18 through July 21. Kicking off the big week was the announcement that
SpongeBob SquarePants has been renewed for a 13th season.
