Last year, THQ Nordic announced a remake of 2003 PlayStation 2 and Game Boy Advance classic SpongeBob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom. Later, they announced multiple special editions of SpongeBob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated — one of which costs a whopping $300.
Today, they've finally announced a release date for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC remake. SpongeBob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated launches on June 23rd, 2020 (just two months from now)! What's more, pre-orders are now live on the game's official website.
The F.U.N. Edition, Shiny Edition, and Standard Edition are all now available — so act fast while it's still in stock! In some countries, product selection is limited. That's unfortunate but understandable given that we're in the midst of a global pandemic.
THQ Nordic has released a new trailer for SpongeBob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated which shows off some gameplay. It seems that the remake is almost entirely faithful, the only noticeable difference being the improved visuals. However, there is an interesting, new multiplayer mode.
In other SpongeBob Squarepants news; The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run has been delayed from July to August — find out more on that here.
