Marvel's What If...? is an upcoming animated series which will retell the events of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Each episode will twist the events of the popular movies. For example, one of the premises of an episode is as follows: What if Agent Peggy Carter had become Captain America?

Prior to a recent interview with, the showrunner of What If...?, Ashley Bradley is was believed that each of the twenty-three episodes would be dedicated to a respective entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, it turns out that this isn't the case — despite it having been perpetuated by, the head of Marvel Studios himself, Kevin Feige.

“That is a rumor. Kevin said that we will be exploring every movie in a new way, but not every episode is about one movie if that makes sense,” Bradley told Discussing Film before revealing another premise.

“On the reel [shown at D23 Expo], there is this image of a Star-Lord T’Challa because we wanted to see what if the worlds of Black Panther and the Guardians of the Galaxy collided? That was taking two universes, two to three movies, kind of twisting them in new ways.”

According to the showrunner, the objective of What If...? isn't to have an episode per movie but rather "to hopefully see the majority of characters from all 23 movies. You’ll see multiple characters in an episode.”

Marvel's What If...? will debut on Disney+ in 2020.
