Warner Bros. animated films based on the DC Universe definitely seems on a roll and shaking things up as, like the feature film division, they seem to be embracing strong individual stories that could be set in the multiverse, with no word on whether or not they will eventually join together ala The Avengers or Justice League. First we got Superman: Man of Tomorrow, which is set in the Man of Steel’s earliest days in Metropolis; and then Batman: Soul of the Dragon, which placed things in the groovy Kung Fu ‘70s. Now it’s Justice Society: World War II — the trailer for which has just been released — with Barry Allen's the Flash traveling from the present into the past and interacting with the heroes of yesteryear.
Offers the official synopsis, “Justice Society: World War II finds modern-day Barry Allen [Matt Bomer] prior to the formation of the Justice League, discovering he can run even faster than he imagined, and that milestone results in his first encounter with the Speed Force. The Flash is promptly launched into the midst of a raging battle — primarily between Nazis and a team of Golden Age DC superheroes known as The Justice Society of America.
“Led by Wonder Woman [Stanic Katic], the group includes Hourman [Matthew Mercer], Black Canary [Elysia Rotaru], Hawkman [Omid Abtahi], Steve Trevor [Chris Diamantopoulos] and the Golden Age Flash [Armen Taylor].
One interesting reunion is between Stanic Katic and Matt Bomer, who had previously voiced opposite each other in the animated film Superman: Unbound as, respectively, Lois Lane and Matt Bomer.
No official release date for Justice Society: World War II just yet.
