Star Trek: Lower Decks is an upcoming adult animated series created by Mike McMahan (who's also responsible for creating Hulu's Solar Opposites alongside Rick and Morty's Justin Roiland).
The series takes place in the year 2380 and revolves around the support crew of the U.S.S. Cerritos, one of Starfleet's apparent least important ships. Ensigns Mariner, Boimler, Rutherford, and Tendi must keep up with their duties and social lives, all while the ship is being rocked by a multitude of sci-fi anomalies.
Those four characters are voiced by Tawny Newsome, Jack Quaid, Noël Wells, and Eugene Cordero. CBS All Access has ordered two seasons of Star Trek: Lower Decks, the first of which will consist of ten episodes and debut on Thursday, August 6th. Episodes will debut weekly.
Earlier this month, we got an official poster for Star Trek: Lower Decks which revealed the series' premiere date — as you can see here. Now we've got a full-blown official trailer.
You can check out the trailer for the first season of Star Trek: Lower Decks for yourself below (via CBS All Access). Though, be warned it certainly hasn't gone down as smoothly as CBS likely hoped that it would. In fact, they've disabled both comments and ratings on account of the reception.
Star Trek: Lower Decks premieres on CBS All Access on August 6th, 2020.
