Star Trek: Lower Decks is an upcoming adult animated series created for CBS All Access by Mike McMahan — who is also responsible for creating Hulu's Solar Opposites (with Rick and Morty's Justin Roiland). The voice cast includes Tawny Newsome, Jack Quaid, Noël Wells, and Eugene Cordero.
The series takes place in the year 2380 and revolves around the support crew serving on one of Starfleet's least important ships — the U.S.S. Cerritos. Ensigns Mariner, Boimler, Rutherford, and Tendi have to keep up with their duties and their social lives, often while the ship is being rocked by a multitude of sci-fi anomalies.
Two seasons have been ordered, the first of which will consist of ten episodes. Up until now, we haven't known when Star Trek: Lower Decks would premiere. Thankfully, we do now.
StarTrek.com shared an official, new poster for the upcoming animated series which not only reveals the show's premiere date but also our first proper look at the aforementioned U.S.S. Cerritos. Star Trek: Lower Decks will premiere on Thursday, August 6th on CBS All Access and subsequently debut weekly (on Thursdays) until the allotted ten episodes have been exhausted.
