Helluva Boss is back with a brand-new episode. After leaving fans with a mild cliffhanger at the end of the first season, Vivienne Medrano and her team is bringing us way back. Back before Blitzo enlisted Moxxie and Millie for his killing business. Heck, before he even thought about sleeping with Stolas for access to his grimoire.
In Saturday's episode, The Circus, we got to go all the back to Stolas' childhood and the first time he met Blitzo at the circus. He was nothing more than a circus imp playing off of Fizzarolli and his skills as a clown. His ill-intentioned father was swayed -- rather easily -- into pawning his son off to Stolas' father, Paimon, as a means for Stolas' father to buy him a friend for his birthday.
The whole ordeal was a front, of course, as Blitzo's father was more interested in swindling the Goetia family of all their riches. The episode doesn't go greatly in-depth as to what happened to cause Blitzo to abandon his circus family and childhood career for his decision to form IMP.
The episode runs a standardized 23 minutes, certainly showcasing previous statements of longer episodes, and is, for the most part, there to keep the person who's been following the show informed about the history the two have and also partly to draw the attention of those who just found the show in their feed. The episode is out right now, unfortunately, as per Helluva Boss standards, it's hard to say when the next episode will actually come out as Viv and her team never really seem to set any sort of concrete schedule.
Initially, Helluva Boss was debuted as a pilot alongside Hazbin Hotel back in late 2019. Unlike Hazbin, which is getting the TV show treatment, Medrano took another route and went independent when making the show, releasing each episode on YouTube for all to see since October 2020. The show has been on a hiatus since it concluded its first season on October 31, 2021.
