Fan-Favorite Producer Dave Filoni Isn't Involved In The "Day-To-Day" Of STAR WARS RESISTANCE
We assumed that, just like Star Wars Rebels and The Clone Wars, David Filoni was heavily involved in the development of Star Wars Resistance, but now the creator reveals he has a reduced role on the new series.
As a writer, producer and director, Dave Filoni has been instrumental to the success of both Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. So, when Star Wars Resistance was announced as the franchise's latest animated series, many of us assumed Filoni would play a similar role in the development of the show.
However, based on a recent interview he had with IGN, it sounds like the acclaimed producer is less involved in the development of the upcoming series, at least when compared to his past work.
"So right now, Resistance is a bit different, in that I’m not on that day-to-day. I created and set it in motion, but I’ve given that to other people to raise up, people that I’ve worked with a long time, who I think deserve the opportunity to tell stories and I think it’s exciting, and I give them my thoughts and notes – I was just doing that this morning, like George would give me. So that’s fun."
In short, Filoni may not be as hands on with Resistance as he was with the previous two Star Wars programs, but he will play a part similar to the one George Lucas had on the Clone Wars.
Also, while he has a reduced role on the Disney XD project, it's likely this is due to the fact that Clone Wars will return on the Disney streaming service, and the creator will likely devote most of his attention to the revival of the fan-favorite series.
