The first footage from Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal series hit Toonado back in May 2019 and since then, animation fans have been treated to 6 episodes. However, the airing of those 6 episodes have been somewhat sporadic, which is why the news that the next 5 episodes will drop all at once on October 4 is cause for celebration.
The first 5 episodes of Primal premiered in October 2019 but the 6th episode didn't air until April 2020. It's currently believed that the episode that aired in April (which aired on April 1 as part of Cartoon Network's April Fool's Day celebration) will be part of the next batch of 5 episodes that will air on October 4. It was previously confirmed that season 1 of Primal would consist of 10 episodes, that would be split into 5-episode increments. Unless the first season's episode count has been increased to 11, expect to see a repeat of Episode 6, ""Plague of Madness" before four new episodes air.
Primal enjoys a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score from critics and a 99% rating from the audience. The show features no dialogue, instead relying on clever animation sequences to progress a show that's incredibly violent while being astonishingly beautiful.
You can currently view the first 5 episodes of Primal on HBOMax.
Primal features a caveman at the dawn of evolution. A dinosaur on the brink of extinction. Bonded by tragedy, this unlikely friendship becomes the only hope of survival in a violent, primordial world.
