Clues For YOUNG JUSTICE Season 4 Revealed In DC FanDome Live Table Read

A special Young Justice live table read held during this past weekend's DC FanDome online event titled Young Justice: Fandom. Season 3.9 Episode 1, "The Prize" provides clues for Season 4.

This past weekend's DC FanDome event was another smashing success as Warner Bros.' decision to split the event into two parts has proven to be a winning strategy.  During the Young Justice panel event, season 4 of the fan favorite superhero animated series was confirmed but there was another event which shouldn't be overlooked.

During a special live table read titled Young Justice: Fandom. Season 3.9 Episode 1, "The Prize", Crispin Freeman (Roy Harper), Stephanie Lemelin (Artemis), Danica McKellar (Miss Martian) and Nolan North (Superboy) read a script that was set between the end of season 3 and the start of season 4.  Young Justice showrunner Greg Weisman confirmed that the live read should be considered cannon.

During the read, it was disclosed that Dick Grayson is on a sabbatical of sorts and that Artemis is the new leader of the team.  She invited Roy Harper back to the team, after Nightwing previously dismissed him from the squad in season 2 due to the trauma he hid from the team about being cryogenically frozen for years while a clone took his place.

Elsewhere, we also learned that Miss Martian and Superboy are going to leave the team and try to live a normal life of sorts.  In the final moments of season 3, Conner proposed to M'gann and she said yes.  Based on the development during the live read, it seems the two could be departing the show or at least stepping back as main characters. That honestly would make sense as Young Justice suffers at times from an overly large cast.

As far as when Young Justice: Phantoms will premiere, there's still no official release date or even word on if the show is moving to HBO Max (as most DC Universe originals are abandoning ship) but Weisman did offer some encouraging words about how production is progressing during these uncertain COVID-19 times:

"We’re all working from home. And for the most part, when it comes to the pre-production, the script writing, the storyboards, design work, we’ve successfully transitioned to working at home. It’s not quite as much fun to not be in the office and have everyone together, but we’re doing it. That’s not a problem. The thing that’s been tough, as these guys have indicated, is voice recording, where we used to record everyone together as much as possible in a room for the first three seasons."
