Since What If...? has begun streaming on Disney+ with a positive reception, Marvel Studios has announced that it would only be the first of many canonized animated shows to flesh out the MCU. Despite there already being a second season of What If...? greenlit and well into production, it looks like the studio is wasting no time in prepping for whatever comes next.
While it is unknown what characters and stories will be adapted in an animated medium in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we now know what the creative team will look like. Liza Singer, best known for her work as an artist on the Harley Quinn animated series for DC, has announced that her talents will also be utilized in an upcoming Marvel Studios project - as a director!
Singer's other credits include Disenchantment, DC Super Hero Girls, and The Harper House, serving in the art department, an animation department, and director for each project. Check out the announcement tweet from the artist herself below.
This leaves us with the question - what could she be directing? With her track record of zany female-led shows like Harley Quinn, DC Super Hero Girls, and Disenchantment, things point to her heading up a female-led animated series or special.
Could it be Captain Carter, introduced in What If...?, or perhaps a series focused on series stand-out Howard the Duck? Though the duck isn't a woman, he is still every bit as zany as Harley Quinn, so it could definitely be a possibility. Still, it would be odd for Marvel Studios not to ask Kevin Smith back after canning his Hulu Howard the Duck series.
