Beth and Summer tease giving a teaser in a tongue-in-cheek promo for Rick and Morty season 7.
No new footage from the upcoming season is shown, instead, the duo wonders aloud about what could happen in the next round of adventures.
The added layer to the joke is that none of the previously released promos for the animated sci-fi sitcom have revealed the new voice actors for Rick and/or Morty. The main protagonists of the show were previously voiced by series co-creator, Justin Roiland. It was previously disclosed that sound-alikes would replace Roiland however, their identity has not been disclosed at this time.
At this point, fans of the show are convinced that Adult Swim won't reveal the new voice actors in action until the show premieres next month.
Still, there are a number of interesting topics teased by Beth and Summer in the promo, including:
- Will Morty finally date Jessica?
- Will Jerry get a job?
- Will Rick catch Rick Prime or Evil Morty?
The upcoming season, which has previously teased a Rick Prime vs Rick showdown prior to this current promo, will premiere on October 15 at 11PM est/pst.
The creative team for Rick and Morty have previously indicated that they are anxious to prove to fans of the show that they can produce something that not only matches but surpasses past seasons. Season 7 will be the first Rick and Morty season in which Roiland will not be involved in any way.
In a press release, Adult Swim President Michael Ouweleen stated, "It’s happening thanks to the talent of the entire show team, we can all enjoy 10 new episodes that yet again raise the bar for comedy and animation. This season proves that the geniuses at work on Rick and Morty are just getting started."
Hulu also dropped Roiland from Solar Opposites, another show he co-created. Roiland was also replaced as a voice actor on that show by Dan Stevens and the general consensus has been that most fans got used to Stevens after a single episode.
We'll have to wait until October 15 to find out if the same thing occurs with Rick and Morty.
