A
DC Super Pets movie was set to arrive in theatres on May 21st, 2021 until recently. That has now changed on account of the success of
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum.
The third instalment in the action movie series performed so well at the box office that Warner Bros. has now scheduled a fourth.
John Wick: Chapter 4 has therefore taken the release date which the
DC Super Pets movie previously held.
Warner Bros. recently announced (via
Comicbook.com) a new release date for the DC Comics animated film, that being May 20th, 2020. That's a hefty delay of an entire year.
Based on the title of the film, it's clear what its premise is, but here's clarification anyway;
DC Super Pets would follow the many animal companions of DC Comics heroes like Superman and Batman - their pups being Krypto and Ace respetively. Each of heroes' pets essentially have their owners personality, so they're basically just the Justice League... but animals!
If it wasn't clear already, the film would be targeting a younger demographic. Jared Stern (
The LEGO Batman Movie,
The LEGO Ninjago Movie) is penning the script for Warner Bros.
DC Super Pets will arrive in theatres on May 21st, 2021.
