TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS Star Reveals New Details About Shooting The Movie's Big G.I. JOE Crossover

With its theatrical run winding down, it's become clear Transformers: Rise of the Beasts won't find the same level of box office success as its predecessors. However, after the movie teased an eventual crossover with the G.I. Joe franchise, we're sure Paramount Pictures will forge ahead with that in an effort to increase interest.

It's in Rise of the Beasts' closing moments that Michael Kelly's Agent Burke welcomes Noah into the G.I. Joe fold, and the actor recently talked with Collider (via SFFGazette.com) about shooting the game-changing sequence.

"[Steven Caple Jr.] called me, and he pitched to me what this was in this film," he reveals, "which originally was going to be a post-credits scene, and then they ended up making it the last scene of the film for whatever reason."

"When he pitched it to me, he was like, 'And then there’s this whole G.I. Joe world that we’re not sure that we have the rights to yet, but we really want to tie in the two worlds, and I just think it would be this really cool idea.'"

"When we shot it, we shot it with a couple of different cards that I give him," Kelly concludes. "The one that you see is not the only one we shot."

We'd definitely be interested to learn what the other cards said and would assume those were backups in case Hasbro and Paramount didn't agree to bring the two iconic toy franchises together somewhere down the line.

What that crossover will actually look like remains to be seen, but a movie which unites these characters has been a very long time coming. Ultimately, the G.I. Joe franchise is likely to benefit most as this eventual project would likely serve as a full-blown reboot following the last three disastrous efforts.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts recently got an official Digital and Blu-ray release date. Find out more about that by clicking here.
