Toy Story 4 is just over three months away and, after multiple trailers, we still know very little about the sequel's story. The upcoming fourth instalment in Pixar's longest-running film series will feature the long-awaited return of Annie Potts as Bo Peep as well as introduce Tony Hale, Jordan Peele, Keegan-Michael Key, and Keanu Reeves as Forky, Ducky, Bunny, and Duke Caboom respectively.
Disney shareholders were recently made privy to more information about Toy Story 4 when shown an excerpt of footage from the film. Thankfully, a Twitter user by the name of Scott Ladewig (@Ladewig) recently shared what the footage included.
According to Ladewig, the footage began with the creation of Forky. The new handmade character will supposedly be crafted by Bonnie at school and thereby imbued with life. Bonnie brings her toys along for a road-trip wherein Forky is undergoing an existential crisis and desperately wants to go back to being a regular old spork. Forky escapes the RV, prompting Woody and Buzz to go after him. In search of the new character, they bump into an old friend: Bo Peep.
Upon spotting Bo in an antique shop, Woody attempts to rescue her before being surrounded by a gang of creepy dolls. This prompts Bo to spring into action and rescue the cowboy herself. The trio of familiar characters end up at a carnival and meet Ducky and Bunny.
The film's central conflict seems to revolve around Woody deciding whether to remain devoted to making Bonnie happy or staying at the carnival and living a life of freedom - all the while trying to convince Forky of the positives of being Bonnie's favourite toy.
This description sounds quite plausible, especially as it sounds particularly similar to the plot of Toy Story 2 wherein Woody must decide to return to Andy or live his life as a collectable.
Toy Story 4 is set to arrive in theatres on June 21st, 2019.
