Following Warner Bros.' shift in release dates for three of the studio's upcoming movies, tickets for Tom & Jerry are now on sale for those willing to venture into an actual movie theater. After being delayed to March 5 due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, Warner Bros. recently moved it up a week to February 26, 2021.
As per Warner Bros.' release strategy for its 2021 film slate, Tom & Jerry will also release simultaneously on HBO Max. There will be no premium charge for those who watch the movie on the streaming service.
Based on the beloved Hanna-Barbera cartoon series, Tom & Jerry reignites one of the most iconic rivalries between cat and mouse. The film adopts an animated/live-action hybrid approach as both Tom and Jerry will be animated characters in the real world.
The film stars Chloë Grace Moretz as a wedding planner working for the finest hotel in New York City. When Jerry moves in on the eve of "the wedding of the century," Moretz seeks the help of Tom to get rid of him. While the cat and mouse battle ensues, an even bigger problem starts to arise when a diabolically ambitious staffer conspires against all three of them.
Tom & Jerry is directed by Tim Story (Fantastic Four) with a script from Kevin Costello. Of course, the characters were created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. The film is produced by Chris DeFaria (The LEGO Movie 2, Ready Player One) with Tim Story, Adam Goodman, Steven Harding, Sam Register, Jesse Ehrman, and Allison Abbate serving as executive producers.
