Aside from the Looney Tunes and Tex Avery cartoons, the only other slapstick cartoon that could hold a candle to these giants is Tom & Jerry. The premise for the series has always been simple, the endless chase between a cranky cat and crafty mouse; however, it's in its simplicity that the show has lasted as long as it has.
While new episodes of the show haven't been on in decades, aside from some failed attempts to bring the characters back to the mainstream, Warner Bros. Animation has been hard at work trying to bring the characters to life in a brand new film. Now, after a long time in production and powering past hte COVID-1 pandemic's hold-ups, the new film is finally coming.
Acting as a mix of animation and live-action, the film stars Chloe Grace Moretz as she uses Tom to chase down and get rid of the freeloading Jerry while he stays at a five-star hotel. A trailer for the film has recently been released, packed with laughs that bring the viewer back to the early shorts.
The official release date hasn't been announced, but it is expected to hit theaters sometime next year. We would love to hear your thoughts on the new movie in the comments below!
