Godzilla: Planet of Monsters released back in 2017 and two sequels preceeded it named Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle and Godzilla: The Planet Eater. Those two released last year and Toho Studios haven't announced any further follow-ups. Therefore, Godzilla's future in animation is seemingly in limbo.

Fortunately, a representative of the studio by the name of Akito Takahashi recently paid a visit to San Diego Comic-Con. There, he revealed that Toho Studios are far from done with the animation format (via Comicbook.com). Asked whether we'll be getting more animated Godzilla movie, akin to those mentioned above, Takahashi had this to say:

“Not specific to that series of movies, but as far as the animation format goes, absolutely. We believe there’ll be some exciting content around that as well."

While the rep confirmed that more animated projects are to come, he cautioned that they might not be follow-ups to the aformentioned trilogy. "We’re not quite sure if the next installment will be a sequel to the trilogy currently streaming on Netflix, there’ll probably be a different type of story within the animation format."
